The 53rd annual conference of the Czech and Slovak Ethological Society will take place on November 5–8, 2026, in the picturesque setting of Banská Štiavnica.

Conference Venue and Dates
The conference will take place on 5–8 November 2026 in the historic lecture hall of the Samuel Mikovíni Joint School, at: Akademická 13, Banská Štiavnica, Botanical Garden premises
The Botanical Garden is located just a few minutes’ walk from the historic town centre. Most accommodation in the town centre is therefore within easy walking distance.

Sunday, 8 November 2026
Participants can choose between two programme options:
- Group trip: Visit to the Svet zvierat animal park in Štiavnické Bane – www.svetzvierat.com – including a falconry show. The estimated price, including bus transport and admission, is approximately €15 per person, depending on the number of participants. The trip is expected to last approximately 3–4 hours.
- Individual programme: Walk to and guided underground visit of the Glanzenberg mining tunnel in Banská Štiavnica. Price: €10. The programme is expected to last approximately 1 hour.
Exact times and further details of the programme will be announced later.
Getting to Banská Štiavnica
Whether you are travelling from eastern Slovakia or the western part of the Czech Republic, the most convenient option is to travel by train or bus to Zvolen. From Zvolen, you can continue by:
- direct regional bus, which stops in the centre of Banská Štiavnica,
- regional train directly to Banská Štiavnica.
The railway station in Banská Štiavnica is located approximately 3 km from the historic town centre. We recommend taking a connecting bus or taxi to the centre. Walking from the station takes approximately 40–45 minutes.
