The Zden\u011bk Veselovsk\u00fd Award<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Zden\u011bk Veselovsk\u00fd Award is an annual prize awarded to outstanding student first-author publications that significantly contribute to ethological research.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Eligibility<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n
    \n
  • \n

    Applicants must be students of a Czech or Slovak university (of any nationality or citizenship).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Membership in the Czech and Slovak Ethological Society (CSEtS) is not<\/strong> required.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Competition Rules<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n
      \n
    • \n

      The award is given for a first-author scientific paper<\/strong> published in a peer-reviewed journal in 2024<\/strong>.
      Any form of publication is acceptable, including online early<\/em> publication.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      The applicant must declare affiliation with a Czech or Slovak home institution<\/strong> in the paper.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      The date of acceptance of the paper for publication must precede the date of the applicant\u2019s PhD or Master\u2019s thesis defence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Required Documents<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

      Applicants must submit:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • \n

        the nominated publication in PDF format<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        a brief summary<\/strong> (up to 100 words) explaining the significance and originality of the work,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        a statement from the supervisor<\/strong> confirming the first author\u2019s contribution and declaring that the applicant is or was a student at the time of the research,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        a short academic CV<\/strong>, including date of birth and dates of study (start and, if applicable, completion).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Award Details<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n
          \n
        • \n

          The award is granted by an expert committee of the CSEtS<\/strong>, which evaluates submissions based on the originality of the work<\/strong> and its contribution to ethological research<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          The award includes a financial prize of CZK 20,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          It is awarded annually<\/strong>; however, the committee reserves the right not to award the prize in a given year.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          The award ceremony<\/strong> takes place during an ethological conference.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n
