Travel information

Bratislava is easily accessible by plain. You can decide between the Bratislava Airport and in closely situated Vienna Airport (with convenient bus connection to Bratislava every hour; trip lasting 50 min). There are also many train and bus connections, or even the boat service on a river Danube.

From the Bratislava Airport take the bus No. 61 up to the Trnavské Mýto, then change to the tram No. 1, 4, 9  (direction Karlova Ves) up to the Botanická Záhrada (Botanic Garden) stop. The Congress Center Druzba is 1 min to walk from this stop (two high buildings with one small blue one between them). The whole journey will take about 35-40 min. Municipal transport tickets are available at airport; ask for a one-hour ticket (70 cents). From the Bratislava Central Railway Station take the bus No. 61  (the same bus as from Airport, but opposite direction) up to the Trnavské Mýto, then change to the tram No. 1, 4, 9 (direction Karlova Ves) up to the Botanická Záhrada. Hotel Druzba is right there. From the Bratislava-Petrzalka Railway Station (some trains from the Vienna Südbahnhof) take the bus No. 93 up to the central train station. Than continue as described above. From the Bratislava Central Bus Station take the bus No. 70 in direction Nový Most (the last stop), then change to the tram No. 1, 4 (direction Karlova Ves) up to the Botanická Záhrada. Hotel Druzba is right there.

If you wish to take a taxi from the airport, train or bus station we recommend you to call +421-2-16 302 from a mobile phone or 16 302 from a public phone. This is a reliable service (Taxi Trend) with low prices.

Bratislava - Capital of Slovakia

Bratislava is one of the youngest capitals in Europe, but it is a city with a rich history. The location on the banks of the river Danube, at the crossroads of ancient trading routes right at the heart of Europe made Bratislava a meeting point of various cultures. It was the home of the Celts, the Romans, and the Slavs. In the 10th century Bratislava became a part of the Hungarian Kingdom being an important economic and administrative centre on the kingdom's frontier. In the 16th century Bratislava became a capital of Hungary and a part of the Habsburg (Austrian) Monarchy. Between 1536 and 1830, 11 kings and queens were crowned at St. Martin's Cathedral. Among them queen Maria Theresa of Austria, whose reign is regarded as a golden era of the city's history. Experts regard Bratislava as one of the most dynamically developing and most prospective regions in Europe.

Slovakia is the member of the European Union, Eurozone (currency is Euro) and the Shengen area.
